The Chicks rock... country radio SUCKS!!!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country radio still isn’t ready to make nice with the Dixie Chicks.

With a haul of Grammys Sunday, the Texas trio topped their comeback from their 2003 Bush-bashing comment that turned them from superstars to pariahs — but Music Row isn’t welcoming them back into the country-music fold.

“Most country stations aren’t playing the Chicks, and they aren’t going to start now,” said Jim Jacobs, owner of WTDR-FM, a country radio station in Talladega, Ala.

The awards might have the opposite effect, sparking another radio backlash against the group. Country broadcasters said Monday that the group’s five Grammys show how out of touch the Recording Academy is from the average country fan.

“I think (the listeners) are outraged,” said Tony Lama, program director for KXNP in North Platte, Neb. “This is rural, conservative America. They are just disgusted.”

All this just because of one off hand comment made at a concert...and they weren't even playing in the US.
People are dumb. Good for them, glad they got the awards.

I am a country music fan and they deserve everything single award won and more. They did not deserve to be black listed. I think they're fabulous.

Go, Chicks, go.

I bought the album on iTunes a couple of months ago. It is great.

Further proof that America is populated by morons. This is a nation that beats itself up to convince the world that it will fight to the death for its freedoms. Then, the idiots who make up the so-called heartland blacklist anyone who disagrees with the so-called majority.

Democracy, my butt. I'm SO glad I live north of the border.

BTW, it's not as if the Dixie Chicks said anything that hasn't been said since. With the lowest approval ratings In History, you'd think the doofuses who own the country stations (radio = a failing medium, come to think of it) would be able to put 2 and 2 together and realize that the band members were simply predicting the shift in zeitgeist.

They probably need a dictionary to figure out what "zeitgeist" means.

Great title--I'm not a country music fan, but I admire their courage.

Camni, zeitgeist is one of my favorite words. My daughter was a year or so old (she knew her ABCs shortly after she turned) we use to play a game of picking out words for letters. There's not a lot of good "Z" words, so I threw in zeitgiest and she loved it. One time when she was with my mother and shouting the word, some folks in a store asked if they were German.

carmi~ Well, we're not all morons, only the half who support our idiot preznut.

You're right, hubby said they would need a remedial reading class to figure out what "zeitgeist" means.

*grin*

sage~ Kudos to your daughter!
