Our water system is a Culligan. It only takes about an hour to back-flush. It is set to do it at about 2 AM. It only does it when it senses it is time to do so.
I finally deciphered PITA. You did have to bring back a reference to the original posting, didn't you?

We do have a water conditioning system, hence the back flushing of the system. And whaever you do don't open a water source/tap. tee hee.
I wonder if I need to turn the ice maker off in the frig?

Never thought about the ice maker since we don't have one. Sure is a PITA not being able to use facilities when needed.
Can't they think of a better way to soften the water so that you can still use it during the cycling process.
And, I don't know if they're all the same, but ours takes four and a half hours to recycle!
Oh, and don't even get me started on when the power goes out. Not only can you not flush toilets, but there's no electricity in the whole house.
But we do have a generator so why am I complaining... I must be one of those spoiled Americans! (grin)
Cheney already runs the country, of course, but is this his opportunity to bomb Iran? If I were in Iran today, I would lay low.
