This picture was released by the St Matthew-in-the-City Anglican church in Auckland shows an apparently naked Virgin Mary and Joseph in bed together. The billboard has sparked the ire of conservative Christians in New Zealand.

Hard act to follow? Really? By all accounts the deity was hung like a little tweety-bird, never dropped by to help out while the kid was growing up, never paid one thin shekel in child support (sending the Three Wise Guys doesn't count -- that was their loot, not his), and generally showed the same level of responsibility, consistency, and emotional connection as Tiger Woods. Mary probably wished she'd hooked up with Zeus or Marduk instead.

Ah the Immaculate Conception, one of the things I accepted as a child without knowing what the words Immaculate or Conception meant. Amazing what you will believe when you have no idea what people are talking about.

Don't get me started, I got force-fed that crap by a Southern Baptist christian school when I was a kid.

Somebody explain it to me like I'm 5 year old: Baby jesus, laid in a manger in the dead of winter, freezing his schlabong off, and the wise men bring metal and spice? What about a nice space heater?

Karen, I don't know why, sometimes I have the hardest time commenting here when Google screws up and decides I'm anonymous.

Bee~ I've noticed the Internet is full of annoying screw ups. Just about the time I get one figgered out, another pops up... sigh
