The Chicks rock... country radio SUCKS!!!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country radio still isn’t ready to make nice with the Dixie Chicks.

With a haul of Grammys Sunday, the Texas trio topped their comeback from their 2003 Bush-bashing comment that turned them from superstars to pariahs — but Music Row isn’t welcoming them back into the country-music fold.

“Most country stations aren’t playing the Chicks, and they aren’t going to start now,” said Jim Jacobs, owner of WTDR-FM, a country radio station in Talladega, Ala.

The awards might have the opposite effect, sparking another radio backlash against the group. Country broadcasters said Monday that the group’s five Grammys show how out of touch the Recording Academy is from the average country fan.

“I think (the listeners) are outraged,” said Tony Lama, program director for KXNP in North Platte, Neb. “This is rural, conservative America. They are just disgusted.”

Kristol says Obama would be a pro slavery kinda guy….

"We are hearing really idiotic stuff coming out of the mouths of conservatives to attack Barack Obama with, but this one is particularly odious. Apparently—Bill Kristol thinks Obama would side with the pro-slavery cabal in America during the run up to the civil war. He attacked his Iraq policy by comparing him to Stephen Douglas. Ummmm, Barack would have been a slave at the time Bill. I just wanted to make sure you remember that."

" The Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance seeks to defend equal marriage in this state by challenging the Washington Supreme Court’s ruling on Andersen v. King County. This decision, given in July 2006, declared that a “legitimate state interest” allows the Legislature to limit marriage to those couples able to have and raise children together. Because of this “legitimate state interest,” it is permissible to bar same-sex couples from legal marriage.

The way we are challenging Andersen is unusual: using the initiative, we are working to put the Court’s ruling into law. We will do this through three initiatives. The first would make procreation a requirement for legal marriage. The second would prohibit divorce or legal separation when there are children. The third would make the act of having a child together the legal equivalent of a marriage ceremony.

Absurd? Very. But there is a rational basis for this absurdity. By floating the initiatives, we hope to prompt discussion about the many misguided assumptions which make up the Andersen ruling. By getting the initiatives passed, we hope the Supreme Court will strike them down as unconstitutional and thus weaken Andersen itself. And at the very least, it should be good fun to see the social conservatives who have long screamed that marriage exists for the sole purpose of procreation be forced to choke on their own rhetoric."

NEW DENSEST ELEMENT DISCOVERY

A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the densest element yet known to science. The new element has been named "Bushcronium."

Bushcronium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311.

These particles are held together by dark forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

The symbol for Bushcronium is "W".

Bushcronium's mass actually increases over time, as morons randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere and become assistant deputy neutrons in a Bushcronium molecule, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that Bushcronium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration.

This hypothetical quantity is referred to as "Critical Morass." When catalyzed with money, Bushcronium activates Foxnewsium, an element that radiates orders of magnitude more energy, albeit as incoherent noise, since it has 1/2 as many peons but twice as many morons.

Bushcronium has recently been found to be radioactive. When its nucleus, or "cronycenter," gives up one of its morons, the element morphs into Bushcranium, which is now known to be the densest element known to nature. However, theory indicates that it can become denser still by yielding more morons.

March on Washington

There is more than one-way to march on Washington. MoveOn.org is sponsoring a virtual march on Washington on February 1st...This march will be made in the form of phone calls, emails and faxes, to send one million direct contacts to member of Congress to stop the escalation...everyone can take part in this march. If, for one day, no one in Congress received any other messages from constituents except a call to stop Bush's escalation in Iraq, we can be louder and clearer than any mass rally. You can take part here. I have signed up.

Winnipeg Herald
Manitoba Canada
January 17, 2007

The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration. The actions of President Bush are prompting the exodus among left-leaning citizens who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray, and agree with Bill O'Reilly.

Canadian border farmers say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, animal-rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields at night. "I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry. "He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left. Didn't even get a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?"

In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields. "Not real effective," he said. "The liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn't give milk."

Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves. "A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an Ontario border patrolman said. "I found one carload without a drop of drinking water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though."

When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors have been circulating about the Bush administration establishing re-education camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer and watch NASCAR races.

In recent days, liberals have turned to sometimes ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus trips to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half dozen young vegans disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers on Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney hits to prove they were alive in the '50s. "If they can't identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we get suspicious about their age," an official said.

Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon movies. "I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can't support them," an Ottawa resident said. "How many art-history majors does one country need?"

In an effort to ease tensions between the United States and Canada, Vice President Dick Cheney met with the Canadian ambassador and pledged that the administration would take steps to reassure liberals, a source close to Cheney said. "We're going to have some Peter, Paul & Mary concerts. And we might put some endangered species on postage stamps. The President is determined to reach out," he said.

Only the Right Wing spin machines could turn Barbara Boxer's comments about accountability in Iraq into a chance to attack her feminism.

The best commentary I've seen on this sad situation comes from Elijah Emily Nella:

"Welcome to the fourth wave of feminism: Republican Feminism. If you didn't understand Post-Feminism, your head's going to spin around this one . This New Wave is gaining popularity and media attention Susan B. Anthony would never have dreamt about. This feminism has Rush Limbaugh on it's side". . .

What more does one need to say?

We have the captain of the Titanic heading our nation straight into the iceberg of reality.

Several years ago he declared major military combat operations over in Iraq. Since that time hundreds and hundreds of GIs have died. Only a relatively small number died up until Bush's "Mission Accomplished" PR stunt.

Now, we are sailing nearer the iceberg of destruction, as our captain pathologically "stays the course" of disaster.

Would any major corporation in America hire this psychiatrically impaired fool to be their CEO?

Would any of the corporate media conglomerates that continue to support his psychotic and destructive policies let Bush run their media empires?

Of course not. They know that the guy is as dangerous as a wolf on LSD -- and that he is strategically disabled. But they need him for tax breaks, regulatory relief, and business favors.

So they cut him some slack and let American GIs and Iraqis needlessly die because of their greed.

It's naive to think that we as Christians can tell the Iraqis how to live, therefore suicidal for the United States to stay in Iraq. We can't do anything more there. We don't know who the next Saddam will be but we do know he will be either a Shia or Sunni after they fight it out. Either way it's going to be a dictatorship with cruelty and brutality. It's despicable that Bush's lies created this mess. I'm tired of his fuckin' war!

HUGS AND KISSES

*Apologies to Faith Hill*

"I don't want another heartbreak
I don't need another turn to cry
I don't want to learn the hard way
Baby Hello, oh no, goodbye
But you got me like a rocket
Shooting straight across the sky...
It's the way you love me
It's a feeling like this--
It's centrifical motion
It's pertpetual bliss.
It's that pivotal moment
It's Impossible
This Kiss, This Kiss
(Unstoppable)
This Kiss, This Kiss
Cinderella said to Snow White
How does love get so off course?
All I wanted was a white knight
With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse.
Ride me off into the sunset
Baby, I'm forever yours
It's the way you love me
It's a feeling like this--
It's centrifical motion
It's perpetual bliss.
It's that pivotal moment
It's Unthinkable
This Kiss, This Kiss
(Unsinkable)
This Kiss This Kiss
You can kiss me in the moonlight
On the rooftop under the sky
You can kiss me with the windows open
While the rain comes pouring inside
Kiss me in sweet slow motion
Let's let every thing slide
You got me floating, You got me flying
It's the way you love me
It's a feeling like this--
It's centrifical motion
It's perpetual bliss.
It's that pivotal moment
It's Subliminal
This Kiss, This Kiss
(It's Criminal)
This Kiss, This Kiss"

COULD I HAVE THIS DANCE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE
COULD YOU BE MY PARTNER EVERY NIGHT
WHEN WE'RE TOGETHER IT FEELS SO RIGHT
COULD I HAVE THIS DANCE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE

I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT MAGIC MOMENT
WHEN I HELD YOU CLOSE TO ME AS WE MOVED TOGETHER I KNEW FOREVER YOU'RE ALL I'LL EVER NEED"

Don't let something like this keep you from voting Tuesday...

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A Kansas woman said she was ticketed for having political bumper stickers on her car. On Wednesday, Sara Keiser was cited in connection with campaigning illegally because she parked her car at Metcalf South Mall, which is a polling place during elections.

The law states that no one can campaign within 250 feet of a polling place. Keiser said she wasn't at the mall to vote or to campaign. She was there to go to work. "I work here. My office is upstairs. I'm here every single day," Keiser said. She said someone going to the mall to vote noticed her car parked out front and called police.

"They contacted all kinds of people in Kansas government about what to do. Apparently at one point, they were thinking about towing my car," Keiser said. The car wasn't towed, but an officer wrote her a ticket. "The officer seemed as confused as I did and a little uncomfortable," she said. "(The ticket) stated that my car is a campaign vehicle, which obviously took me aback."

She said she prefers to park close to the front doors of the mall, but now she must park around the corner and out of sight of the polling place. Keiser didn't receive a monetary fine, but she must report to court in November.

THE GREAT DIVIDER
The 'NYT' hits the *nail on the head* in this one...

"As President Bush throws himself into the final days of a particularly nasty campaign season, he’s settled into a familiar pattern of ugly behavior. Since he can’t defend the real world created by his policies and his decisions, Mr. Bush is inventing a fantasy world in which to campaign on phony issues against fake enemies.

In Mr. Bush’s world, America is making real progress in Iraq. In the real world, as Michael Gordon reported in yesterday’s Times, the index that generals use to track developments shows an inexorable slide toward chaos. In Mr. Bush’s world, his administration is marching arm in arm with Iraqi officials committed to democracy and to staving off civil war. In the real world, the prime minister of Iraq orders the removal of American checkpoints in Baghdad and abets the sectarian militias that are slicing and dicing their country.

In Mr. Bush’s world, there are only two kinds of Americans: those who are against terrorism, and those who somehow are all right with it. Some Americans want to win in Iraq and some don’t. There are Americans who support the troops and Americans who don’t support the troops. And at the root of it all is the hideously damaging fantasy that there is a gulf between Americans who love their country and those who question his leadership.

Mr. Bush has been pushing these divisive themes all over the nation, offering up the ludicrous notion the other day that if Democrats manage to control even one house of Congress, America will lose and the terrorists will win. But he hit a particularly creepy low when he decided to distort a lame joke lamely delivered by Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts. Mr. Kerry warned college students that the punishment for not learning your lessons was to “get stuck in Iraq.” In context, it was obviously an attempt to disparage Mr. Bush’s intelligence. That’s impolitic and impolite, but it’s not as bad as Mr. Bush’s response. Knowing full well what Mr. Kerry meant, the president and his team cried out that the senator was disparaging the troops. It was a depressing replay of the way the Bush campaign Swift-boated Americans in 2004 into believing that Mr. Kerry, who went to war, was a coward and Mr. Bush, who stayed home, was a hero.

It’s not the least bit surprising or objectionable that Mr. Bush would hit the trail hard at this point, trying to salvage his party’s control of Congress and, by extension, his last two years in office. And we’re not naïve enough to believe that either party has been running a positive campaign that focuses on the issues.

But when candidates for lower office make their opponents out to be friends of Osama bin Laden, or try to turn a minor gaffe into a near felony, that’s just depressing. When the president of the United States gleefully bathes in the muck to divide Americans into those who love their country and those who don’t, it is destructive to the fabric of the nation he is supposed to be leading.

This is hardly the first time that Mr. Bush has played the politics of fear, anger and division; if he’s ever missed a chance to wave the bloody flag of 9/11, we can’t think of when. But Mr. Bush’s latest outbursts go way beyond that. They leave us wondering whether this president will ever be willing or able to make room for bipartisanship, compromise and statesmanship in the two years he has left in office."
